The long life is what you are planning for.
The common want of most people especially in the first world society will be to have money, to save for a house, have a car, rent some houses, live your life and travel and be in comfort.
I was once told by a close family member, most people are happy with a house and a car. I am middle aged now and I suppose I didn't reach this "goal" in the way that this person may have thought. Nothing wrong with these goals, nothing haram.
Its amazing how we think we are about to live a long time and plan out comforts rather than thinking about whats necessray and what blessing we already have in front of us.
I can't lie. I want a house with a drive, detached, in a nice quiet community, where the mosque is near and the roads are paved smoothly for my car to float through. Am I desperate, not really. If it comes it comes. I may pass very soon, this want in the dunya is just another luxury for someone that already has a palace.
My fathers house to someone who is homeless, not well off, in a poor situation will look like a palace. The carpets, the doors, the kitchen, the showers, these basic houses are much more than what people have. Its a case of being thankful yes.
I am glad I am not overly competitive in the dunya, though its nothing wrong, I am one that always wanted energy to work hard and do more.
