Effort - Good or Bad

I'll make a list of things that require effort, whether you think they are bad or good is up to you:

It takes effort...

To get out of the bed for Fajr
To go and make breakfast
To drive to a certain place
To fix the house
To go to work
To achieve a goal at work
To meet up with a girl
To organise a group
To make music videos
To singing songs
To plotting revenge
To plot a global plan
To type on the computer
To waste time clicking buttons and typing on the keyboard
To watch movies
To watch worthless things
To dress for the opposite sex whether your married or not
To cleanse yourself
To fix your car
To develop software applications
To smoke
To go to nightclubs
To buy alcohol and drink it
To organise parties
To work against a movement
To destroy ideologies
To research something in depth
To become a hate group
To solve the problems of the world
To create more problems in the world
To make money
To feed children

OK so enough. This isn't by any means everything you can do, there are billions of things one can do that require effort.

This blog is an effort itself!

In a previous post, I talked about time and how well I or the majority may not use it. We are supposed to value time and make use of it, any moment can be our last. Simple talk.

Did you ever think that even a bad effort, and by any means find an effort from the list above is still an effort to achieve something?

We can waste our time being bad or we can waste our time being good. In both cases we are useful, in either destroying ourselves and others around us (by doing bad) or uplifting ourselves and others around us (by doing good).

I was thinking about something for a while. Imagine us being the consumer of the following:

Music videos
Vlogs promoting evil
Dating sites
Parties
Music
Movies (Especially bad ones that promote filth)
Boxing

Now what do these things all have in common? They are all haram number one and number two they waste our time. Whether we are consumers of these things or not you have to appreciate a common theme here, effort. Even if your not the consumer and your involved in the effort, you still did do something to achieve it.

It took effort to go out and make that music video, make that vlog, create that dating site, organise that party, make that music and make that movie right?! IMO definitely. Whether its bad or not that's not the point. The point I am trying to make is that while people are making effort to achieve such things, how much effort do WE as Muslims put in our lives for ourselves and others around the world to achieve GOOD.

Now lets look at the following list:

Scientists doing the science and promoting science (theories, experiments to results)
Software developers sharing results
Islamic scholars putting up regular programs (Speakers, Muftis and others)
DIY enthusiasts and experts sharing knowledge
People bettering communities
Companies putting up high-tech satellites into orbit
Sending a robot to Mars
Engineering the bridge
Building a Masjid

It also took effort to go out and do things on this list, whether you think its good, evil or a time waste is up to you. We are told to use time wisely, Allah tells us this in Surah Asr, however short the Surah is, its concentration is on Man and Time. What do you do with that time?

It makes me wonder about the effort we make in our lives, we make effort to waste time our time right. We consume the effort of the evil things like music, movies and other time wasting things. The one thing you can say about the evil things we can consume, those things required effort to do. What are we doing. What evil do combat. What good do put into this dunya? Effort is being made all over the world to achieve something, what have we done, what do we plan to do. Why are we sitting back and doing nothing.

There so much good to do in the world, some things come to my mind:

Helping the youth somehow
Promoting Islam
Helping yourself and others do DIY
Organise and play sport
Building things that are useful (websites, software, buildings)
Become part of groups and organisations.

I hope to become useful in every minute of my life for Allah, even when I sleep. That's one goal I hope all of us Muslims achieve.
